Multi-physics Simulation and Modeling Specialist

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Multi-physics Simulation and Modeling Specialist, with skills in PDE and ODE solution methods such as Finite Element Methods, Finite Difference Time Domain Methods, Finite Volume Methods, Discrete Element Methods and continuum mechanics. In this role you will play a key role in developing and applying advanced computational techniques to simulate and model complex biological and biomechanical systems with focus on integrating multiple physics processes involving thermal, mechanical, electrical and optical fields. You will also be involved in cutting-edge research and collaborate with experts in the field.
*The position is open to junior and mid-level candidates. Each candidate will be evaluated based on their corresponding level of experience.
What your daily life will look like:
- Develop and implement multi-physics simulation models to study biological and biomechanical systems.
- Integrate diverse data sources, including omics data to inform model development and validation.
- Collaborate with experimental scientists to design experiments, interpret results, and refine models based on empirical observations.
- Utilize computational tools and techniques, such as PDE and ODE solution methods such as Finite Element Methods, Finite Difference Time Domain Methods, Finite Volume Methods, Discrete Element Methods and continuum (solid and fluid) mechanics, integrating multiple physics processes involving thermal, mechanical, electrical and optical fields to simulate and analyze complex biological phenomena.
- Contribute to the development of novel algorithms and methodologies for multi-physics simulation and modeling in the context of life science and nutrition research.
- Communicate findings effectively through presentations, reports, and scientific publications.
- Stay current with advancements in computational biology, bioinformatics, and related fields, and apply new methodologies to enhance our research capabilities.
What your strengths are:
- Ph.D. or equivalent experience in computational mechanics, physics, biology, bioinformatics, biophysics, engineering or a related field.
- Proven expertise in multi-physics simulation and modeling, with experience applying computational techniques to study biological systems.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, MATLAB, or C/C++, Fortran, as well as experience with scientific computing libraries and tools.
- Proficiency in numerical methods, statistical analysis, and data visualization techniques.
- Experience with software packages commonly used for simulation and modeling, such as COMSOL Multiphysics, ANSYS, Abaqus, GROMACS, or similar.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic research environment.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to interdisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
- A track record of innovation and a passion for leveraging computational approaches to address fundamental questions in biology and nutrition.
